Creation Of An Alliance Between Two Not For Profit Organisations Based In The City Of Melville

Accessing services which assist to allow older people to remain in their home and yet connected to their community can be overwhelming for seniors and their families. Recognising this, Alchera Living and Melville Cares have created an alliance to provide information and support to the Residents of Alchera’s four retirement villages. Alchera’s Chairman, Graham Sauvage, noted that “having flexible dedicated specialist visits from Melville Cares to meet one on one with existing and prospective Residents and their families to discuss services would give a sense of surety and comfort that assistance is available if and when it is needed.”

Both organisations already have a variety of connections between them this includes their origins as initiatives of the City of Melville.  In the many years since then, both have continued to work predominantly in the Melville area. The two organisations also share another connection, Melville Cares Director & Patron, June Barton, was once also the Chairperson of Alchera’s Board.

Over the years the relationship has grown as Alchera’s residents have accessed Melville Cares for a variety of home care and social support services. Alchera’s residents can now look forward to accessing group or individual information sessions, assistance to access ACAT assessment together with outings and other social activities aimed at lessening social isolation.

With the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, Alchera Living and Melville Cares look forward to strengthening their alliance for the benefit of existing and future residents of the retirement villages.
