Nancy and Treasur 19 Years of Visiting
This is a match that started on the 7th of February 1998 and has survived 19 years to date and
hopefully with many more years to come. It is one of our longest resident matches here at Melville Cares. Treasur is the visitor to Nancy and she is the first and only resident that she was introduced to. This is as most will know in this industry very unusual. Most of my CVS visitors have been matched with several residents over their years of volunteer visiting.
Nancy is a beautiful, soft spoken, small in stature lady who has adapted to nursing home life over 20 plus years. She is always happy to see Treasur and has seen Treasur’s children grow up and on occasion now meets Treasur’s grandchildren too. Nancy never married but feels like she has a big family at the home and an adopted family with Treasur. Treasur visits weekly and has taken Nancy to appointments or has visited her in hospital stays over the many years.
Last year, 2016, Nancy and Treasur starred in our Melville Cares calendar. Nancy was keen to see the first draft of the picture for her approval. On receipt of the first of our calendars Nancy proceeded to show all the residents and staff at the home her photo and joked she was now famous at 90 plus years of age. It is lovely to see a match that has so much fun, history and love.
