Melville Cares Community Library Project

Melville Cares is proud to announce our new installation of Community Library boxes located at June Barton House and our Friendship centre in Archibald Street Willagee.

These were the outcome of a community collaboration project between Melville Cares, AtWork Australia and People Who Care.

This project is based on the ‘The Little Library’ movement which Todd Bol started in the US nine years ago when he installed a library inside of a mini model of a school house on his front lawn in Wisconsin.

This soon became a huge talking point and hit amongst the neighbourhood, and has since taken off around the world among people who share a love of literature and reading. You can read more about this global trend here.

We hope that this initiative will be a great way of continuing to strengthen the community spirit which Melville Cares has been developing over the past 30 years.
