Our CEO Richard joined Melville Cares as manager in 1998 from a background of 26 years of working in accounting and investments in the commercial banking sector.
A change of location to the country provided an opportunity for Richard to move into the not-for-profit community sector. He accepted the position of manager of a regional multipurpose centre which enabled him to lead a broad range of community support services across the Great Southern region.
Following eight years in the country it was time to relocate closer to Perth where greater options presented for his children’s education. Once relocated back into the Melville area, the position of Manager of Melville Cares became available from which Richard was successful in his application. Commencing in June 1998 Richard continues today, albeit under a different title, reflecting the growth and changed management structure within Melville Cares, to what we see today.
The recent arrival of his first grandson has provided a hands-on insight into the fresh approach to child rearing which prevails in today’s world “How did we ever manage?’. He has a recreational interest with wife Liz in riding his beloved thunderbird motorcycle. This combined with the responsibilities of being a parent and grandparent; provide a happy life balance in Richard’s home and working life.
